COOK — There are several winter events planned at the Northwoods Friends of the Arts (NWFA) Gallery, located at 210 S. River St.in Cook.
The Writers Group: This group meets on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the NWFA Gallery from 1 – 3 p.m.
All ages of people who like to write are welcome. The facilitator of the group is Dr. Ellie Larmouth. During the session, writers respond to prompts that Ellie creates for each session. There is also time for discussion and readings. This group meets the second Saturday of each month during the winter.
Woodcarvers for Beginners to Expert: The Woodcarvers for Beginners to Expert will meet Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. at NWFA Gallery. This group meets every Tuesday.
New painting class: “A Study in Light and Color,” presented by Thomas Chapman, is a new painting class offered free of charge at the NWFA Gallery. It is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The class is open to adults using any media. Bring your own materials, including the necessary colors of red, yellow, blue, white and black. To register, call Tom Chapman at 218-750-4416 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Saturdays are usually reserved for Open Studio Art from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. However, Saturday, Feb. 16, will be an exception for Open Studio Art Space Saturdays.
Open Studio Art Space: Every Saturday is Open Studio Art Space at NWFA Gallery from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Note the ending time is 12:30 p.m. to accommodate transition to The Writers Group meeting at 1 p.m. All artists welcome. (The exception to this will be on Saturday, Feb. 16.)
The gallery’s winter hours for viewing the exhibits and shopping are in effect now until April: Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
