Since 2013, the Minnesota Humanities Center has honored Minnesota veterans who contribute in a myriad of ways to their communities, state, and country. The 2020 Veterans’ Voices Award Ceremony will continue to honor the outstanding work of Minnesota’s veterans by celebrating their poetry, prose, essays, memoirs, and more. On Thursday, October 8, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., this year’s ceremony will feature veterans sharing their written and spoken work at an online ceremony.
This year’s ceremony will feature awardwinning poet and U.S. Army Veteran Brian Turner. In his poetry and prose, Turner conveys both elegant and devastating portraits what it means of to be a soldier and a human being. Join Brian live for an interactive Q & A experience!
The event will also include guest speaker Kao Kalia Yang. An acclaimed awardwinning author, Yang will explore how intergenerational storytelling connects us to war and memory.
