Driving over the tallest bridge in Minnesota may take you by surprise (hint: it is in Virginia). My name is Rachel Wagner, I am a graduate student in Civil Engineering, and I had the privilege to interview Andy Johnson, MnDOT Project Manager, about the Highway 53 High Bridge in Virginia.
In this interview we discuss some of the design considerations and what it takes to build a bridge of this scale. Keep an eye out for cool views of the bridge; the bridge girders can be up to 14 feet deep!
