HIBBING – Sammy’s Pizza, which has sold more than 20 million pizzas to date, was recently voted
Best Pizza in Minnesota” in Minnesota Monthly’s Pizza Bracket Challenge.
The first inaugural Bracket Challenge, which was comprised of 32 of the most popular pizza restaurants throughout the state of Minnesota, took place June 18 – July 29, with a final round victory by Sammy’s over Pizza Lucé.
“We can’t thank our faithful fans enough,” said Rich Chalupsky, co-owner of Sammy’s Pizza in Hibbing. “The support we received over the past month during the Pizza Bracket Challenge is nothing short of amazing. We’ve always felt that we have some of the best, most loyal fans around—and to us, this validates it even more. We’re very fortunate and humbled to have been named ‘Best Pizza in Minnesota’.”
Sammy’s, which opened its first location in Hibbing in 1954, now has 14 locations across Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota—all owned and operated by family members and close friends. It’s now its fourth generation of pizza makers—all who use Sam’s original recipes.
In 2015, PMQ Pizza Magazine, the pizza industry’s No. 1 publication, inducted Sammy’s into its Pizza Hall of Fame—which pays tribute to popular pizzerias in business for 50 years or longer.
