VIRGINIA — Range Foot & Ankle recently relocated its business to 616 9th St. N. at Northgate Plaza in Virginia. The new location was also remodeled, adding wider hallways and larger exam rooms to accommodate patients who are in wheelchairs or come with family members.
In addition to updating its office space, Range Foot & Ankle is upgrading its inhouse X-ray system, making custom orthotics, and fitting for and supplying diabetic shoes.
Range Foot & Ankle, owned by podiatrist Dr. Katie Evans, provides comprehensive foot and ankle care, including surgical treatment of chronic issues as well as for more acute injuries such as fractures. It also provides wound care and uses a variety of treatments including advanced wound care options, such as surgical debridements (removal of damaged tissue or objects from a wound) and skin substitutes.
“I have a phenomenal group of four employees who care about our patients,” Dr. Evans said. “They work together wonderfully to make my job easier and to give our patients the best experience they can have. I am proud to be able to provide quality health care with a small town, local touch. You will never be asked to wear a barcode or have me typing into a computer during your visit.”
According to Dr. Evans, there are always new products, treatments and testing devices coming out. “I enjoy learning about them and figuring out which ones will benefit the office and my patients,” she said. “One of the great things about a private practice is, I have the freedom to make the decision myself whether or not to try something, without having to get approval from an administrator.”
Dr. Evans grew up in a small town in central Wisconsin and did her undergraduate schooling at University of Wisconsin-La- Crosse. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Des Moines University. She did her surgical residency training in Passaic, NJ. Her residency included forefoot, rearfoot and ankle surgery. In addition to surgery, Dr. Evans also has extensive training in wound care.
After her residency, Dr. Evans was hired by a private practice podiatry group that specialized in trauma, reconstructive surgeries and wound care. She was eager to return to the Midwest, however, because her husband was working in Two Harbors. As a result, she purchased a practice in Virginia March 1, 2015. She currently sees patients at her new office in Virginia and at Lake View Outpatient Clinic in Two Harbors. She does the majority of her surgeries at Northwoods Surgery Center in Virginia.
