COOK – Artists of the Month for December at the Northwoods Friends of the Arts gallery in Cook are painters Jody Feist and Wanda Parks. Their art will be on display for all month, beginning Dec. 6. A reception will be held at the gallery on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. where viewers can meet and greet the artists.
Wanda Parks of Virginia trained in commercial art after high school, but considers herself mostly self-taught. She has worked in pen and ink, ink with watercolors, and with colored pencil. She has also done plein air painting using water mixable oils. She is especially interested in pen and ink wildlife illustrations.
Jody Feist of Cook gets her inspiration from God’s creation. Her faith allows and encourages her to look beyond the superficial to see God’s hand in nature and in items created by humans.
In addition to the special Wednesday reception (Dec. 12), the gallery—which is located behind Dream Weaver’s Salon in Cook—is open weekly on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The public is invited to check out the variety of art that is on display.
NWFA, a non-profit organization and gallery exhibiting for about 40 artists, is dedicated to encouraging arts in all forms in education and performances in Cook and the surrounding area. The gallery and organization was opened in 2010 on Cook’s main street next to Dream Weaver Spa and Salon.
