NWFA features “Your Story As Art”

COOK – “Your Story As Art” will be offered at Northwoods Friends of the Arts Gallery in Cook on Saturday, March 30, and on Saturday, April 20, from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Each class will stand alone and can be attended separately.

Instructor Kris Musto has extensive experience working with paint, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, collage, fiber, fabric, printmaking, text and anything else within reach to make artwork about thinking and feeling. She holds a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has worked in MCAD admissions since 1999.

For each class of “Your Story As Art,” participants will be guided in creating a visual representation of their story. Use drawing, collage, paint and paper provided (or other materials you bring) to create a finished art piece on canvas, board or paper. This class transcends just the technique of how to draw or paint by diving into concept, symbolism, representation and metaphor in a fun and stress-free environment!

Who is this class for? Any person at least 12 years old who wants to play, artists looking for inspiration, writers wanting a new perspective on their story, poets with ideas, and others.

Time will be spent developing stories and experimenting with materials, continuing to learn about composition, visual symbols, drawing, surface treatment and information on current artists that are using story. Your story can be a memory, fiction, dream, idea, poem, opinion, struggle, victory, comedy, tragedy or otherwise.

A check confirms the registration for each class. Cost is $40 for NWFA members, $55 for non-members for each class. There is an additional $5 supply fee payable on the day of class (minimum of 10 students, maximum of 12). NWFA membership is $15 for individual and $25 for family.
