SALLYWORLD: WEEK 293

Without a hitch, literally; losing weight via ankles

Greetings and Sallytations! There’s a classic phrase that’s used quite often in life, “without a hitch.” This means something you’ve planned will happen successfully without any problems, etc. Whoever came up with the phrase has not ever had a hitch installed on an older vehicle. A few weeks back I mentioned we bought a boat. Our boat is still parked […]

Q: I live next door to a church, and they’re going to redo their parking lot this summer. They were very nice to send a notice around to the community. Got a flat tire? Get a massage!

I know what you’re thinking, how do a flat tire and massage go together? Think of it this way: when you have a flat tire you are not going anywhere until it gets fixed. I know, I had one last week. And I was at the tire shop a.s.a.p. after I realized it was more than a very slow leak. […]

Get hooked on volunteering and help Minnesota’s lakes and streams

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is seeking volunteers for its Citizen Stream and Citizen Lake Monitoring Programs. Program volunteers track water clarity, which helps the MPCA learn more about a lake or stream’s water quality. “Thirty years ago, when I started monitoring Long Lost Lake, I thought it would be an interesting thing to do for a summer. Little […]
