What does home mean to you?

Coming home

Home means so many things to so many different people, even to those that don’t have one. Ironically, home is something most of us aren’t even aware of until we leave it. Before, as the Stanley Brothers sang “we drift too far from shore” a home is sometimes nothing more than a house, an address, a place to hang our […]

Paul Metsa’s story this week (“Coming Home,” p. 6) hit a chord in me. It seems such a perfect example of what “home” means. I thank him for sharing it. Paul is fortunate to have such roots and strong ties to his home, family, and lifelong friends. Yes, he lives in Minneapolis and has for decades, but the Iron Range […]

We can help you keep your pets safe and cool this […]

Iron Range students praised for recycling efforts during school year

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – It’s not included on their report cards, but students at a number of Iron Range schools earned high grades for recycling from the St. Louis County Environmental Services Department. With recycling totals tallied for the school year, it’s clear students and schools have worked hard to minimize their waste through recycling and waste reduction programs. Recycling […]

Fireworks safety reminder

Spend July 4 with family and friends, not in the hospital

ST. PAUL – Fireworks are exciting, but not if they involve a trip to emergency room. Last year in Minnesota there were 71 reported fireworks injuries — 15 of them to children 9 and under. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety State Fire Marshal Division (SFMD) reminds adults as Independence Day approaches that their best bet is to enjoy a […]
