Arrowhead Transit Expanding Bus Service Starting in August!

Arrowhead Transit will be providing bus service in three brand new areas: Cook, Hermantown, and Rice Lake. This new service is made possible by a two year $2.37 million grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. We have been busy taking surveys of these areas and the public’s response has been very positive.

In Cook we went door to door visiting every apartment, the assisted living and trailer homes. We also promoted the survey online. About a dozen people said they would use the bus every day it was available. Another dozen said they would use it at least once a week. Hermantown had over a hundred people take the survey and most of those people said they would use a public bus when it became available.

We are still hiring drivers and working out the details in these areas.

We are also expanding the Dial-A-Ride service in Chisholm from only one day a week to three, and in Ely from three days to everyday of the work week. Virginia will also see an expansion of service with access now being provided to areas of Mt. Iron including Walmart.
