National Astronomy Day events at MDC April 29

CHISHOLM – Celebrate National Astronomy Day at the Minnesota Discovery Center on Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event will be an opportunity to meet members from the Range Astronomy Club, play an astronomy trivia game, learn about the solar system, make a traditional Finnish paper star, see a real astronaut suit from NASA on display, and try on an astronaut helmet.

If there is a clear sky, the Range Astronomy Club will set up telescopes for safe viewing of the sun with a sun filter, and for daytime viewing of the moon. There will also be a special half-hour presentation about backyard astronomy by Range Astronomy Club member Dale Kentoph at 1:30 p.m.

There will be more space-related shows, activities and nighttime telescope viewing with the Range Astronomy Club at the Paulucci Space Theater in Hibbing from 4 – 11 p.m. that day.
