Kalevala Day Celebration planned in Duluth Feb. 26
DULUTH – Kalevala Day Celebration 2017 will be held at Kenwood Lutheran Church in Duluth on Sunday, Feb. 26. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. The celebration will include music at 1:30 p.m. by Kanteleen Soittajat, followed bya3p.m.programtitled“TheKalevala’s Contribution to Finnish Identity and Nationhood,” by Marianne Wargelin, honorary consul of Finland in Minneapolis. There will also be special recognition of Aini Lindquist for her 50 year anniversary in Ladies of Kaleva.
Before and after the program, there will be coffee and goodies and the opportunity to visit the tori (marketplace) that will have baked goods, crafts and more.
Finland is celebrating 100 years of independence in 2017; many activities will be held throughout the year. Finland’s Independence Day is December 6.
Kenwood Lutheran Church is located at 2720 Myers Ave. in Duluth.
