Surgery center groundbreaking to be held
VIRGINIA – A groundbreaking ceremony for the new outpatient surgery center in Virginia will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. Fairview Range in Hibbing and Dr. Bridget Sundell of Virginia have announced a joint venture agreement to build the facility, named the Northwoods Surgery Center, which will be located adjacent to the new Sundell Eye Clinic on Bailey’s Lake. The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking.
The new facility will focus on providing same-day surgical care in multiple specialties, including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ear/nose/throat, and general surgery.
Outpatient surgery centers, also known as ambulatory surgery centers, provide a modern alternative to hospital-based, lowrisk outpatient procedures that have proven to have lower costs as well as a strong track record of quality care and positive patient outcomes.
“Fairview is very excited about our new relationship with Dr. Sundell, who has been providing care for more than a decade to the region,” said Deb Boardman, President & CEO of Fairview Range. “The development of Northwoods Surgery Center will allow patients in the Virginia area to receive same-day surgery close to home.”
Dr. Sundell stated, “This surgery center will enhance access of care for area residents, as well as provide patients with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to work with Fairview, a local healthcare system for over 100 years, to provide high-quality, efficient surgical care for our communities.”
The groundbreaking site is located at 502 North 6th Ave. West in Virginia. Project completion is expected in 2014.
