Remembering Grace Gingerelli Ceryance
July 1, 1920 - Oct. 11, 1998
VIRGINIA – Every year, Grace Ceryance would serve her faithful customers a free meal at Range Catering on Second Avenue the day before Christmas. The fare was usually a feast of ham, potica, mashed potatoes, beans, salads, bread and all the fixings. It was her way of saying thanks. For Gracie, food was the medium through which she spoke. Part of the United States’ strategy in Vietnam was to conduct an herbicide program to remove foliage providing cover for the enemy. doggy bones
Just like humans, our canine’s bones are affected by over-use, getting older, and the cold weather. Be sure to keep track of how much time they spend outside and wipe their paws and fur after being outside in the snow. Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Dinner"
We wouldn't have our modern notions of Christmas without Charles Dickens. If anyone can be
credited with creating our holiday rituals, it is he. So it's only reasonable that we usher in that season with a short piece by Dickens from his Sketches by Boz, published in 1836, called "A Christmas Dinner." There is, of course, a sentimental quality to the piece, but there is also, here and there, a sense of the darkness which sits just underneath the surface of our celebrations, the shadows of past conflicts and the sad specter of those no longer with us. This is a great piece to read aloud to yourself, to let that inimitable Dickens music melt on your tongue like a sweet holiday cookie. Full Story
