Pop legends rockin’ for scholarships in Virginia

Marlene's miracles continue
By Marlene Kauppinen

VIRGINIA - Last year’s John Kauppinen Law Enforcement Scholarship Benefit Concert was such a huge success that Bobby Vee is returning to Virginia with a great lineup of pop legends.

The 2nd Annual John Kauppinen Law Enforcement Scholarship Benefit Concert is being held on Saturday, September 18, at 7:30 p.m., at the Virginia High School Goodman Auditorium, featuring pop star legends Bobby Vee, Brian Hyland, and The Chiffons. Remember these top 10 hits? How can you forget "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Rubber Ball," "Devil or Angel,” "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," "Sealed With a Kiss," "Gypsy Woman," "One Fine Day," "Sweet Talkin' Guy," "He's So Fine," and more!

After last year's successful Bobby Vee and Fabian Benefit Concert, Bobby and his sons want to come on board and take part in helping to raise funds for the John Kauppinen Scholarship Foundation. The Vees and Rockhouse Productions give their time and energy helping many various charities, truly enjoying performing and sharing their gifted musical talent with all those attending these spectacular Benefit Concerts. They will be "Rockin' for Scholarships" at the Virginia’s beautiful Goodman Auditorium once again!

The John Kauppinen Scholarship Foundation has successfully helped many students from the Hibbing Community College Law Enforcement Academy, since the onset of the scholarship program in 2006. John Kauppinen, my husband, was a police officer and a law enforcement instructor who made a difference in the world. Our family wants to continue his work by awarding gifts of scholarships each year to our future peace officers.

Mark your calendars for this exciting, unforgettable rock 'n roll show that will delight an audience of all ages.

Tickets are $35 and $55, and can be purchased by calling Chestnut Collision at 218-741-3061 or the J. K. Foundation at 218-741- 5646.

The major sponsors for the Benefit Concert are the Virginia Coop Credit Union and the Dream Machines Car Club.

Marlene Kauppinen lives in Virginia, MN.
