YMCA Childcare Car Wash Fundraiser
The Mesabi Family YMCA is holding its annual childcare car wash fundraiser on Wednesday, July 21 at the Y. YMCA day camp kids and staff will be washing cars from 12 – 5 p.m. A $5 per vehicle donation is requested. All proceeds from the car wash are used to help support the YMCA’s childcare, day camp and preschool programs. Full Story
St. Michael’s residents get new benches
The Employee “Lift Club” of St. Michael’s Health and Rehab Center’s Foundation recently purchased 2 new benches for the residents and their families to enjoy in the front entrance area. Employees of St. Michael’s in Virginia have the opportunity to donate funds to St. Michael’s Foundation through payroll deduction or one time gifts. It gives the staff an opportunity to give back to the resident's and their families, as well as create a positive environment for the staff themselves. Full Story
Artist reception slated at Lyric Center
The exhibit, Formation: Layers, Iron, Structure, is currently on display at the First Stage Gallery of the Lyric Center for the Arts. It features the work of Mary Gross Erickson and will continue until Aug. 14, 2010. An artist opening reception will be held from 3:00 - 5:30 on Thursday, July 22, which is open to the public. The First Stage Gallery is located at 514 Chestnut Street in Virginia and is open 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Love earns Ph.D. in Counseling
Mary Egan Love of Littleton, Colorado is a recent graduate of Capella University with a PhD in Human Services Counseling. Dr Love grew up in Parkville and is a 1971 graduate of Mt. Iron High School. After serving 3 years in the Army she graduated from Mesabi Community College in 1977 with an AA in Accounting, Bemidji State University in 1979 with a BS in Criminal Justice, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1982 with a MS in Counseling. Dr Love and her family spend summers at their cabin on Lake Fourteen. She has a private practice in Littleton.
