Celebrating the Iron Range for two years
When I was a kid, I waited every year for the TV presentation of the film “The Wizard of Oz.” There were no DVDs, or video rentals then. Across the nation, families everywhere would tune in for the annual televised event. My oldest daughter, at age 4, also saw “The Wizard of Oz” for the first time on TV, but by then I was high-tech enough to make a VHS recording of it. Full Story
The Wind in Our Sails
In our inaugural print edition two years ago, we celebrated the fact that we had 80 contributors from 20 Iron Range communities. We were giddy with the enthusiastic response to our new website and our invitation for people to share content that celebrates the Iron Range. We had a small number of advertisers. Full Story

Do you ever ask yourself questions like, “What is my purpose in life? Was I born just to be a consumer of food and goods? Do I have an obligation to the people I am sharing this time and space with? What is my relationship to the earth?”
I have asked myself questions like this all my life. But when you get to be a retiree (and former teacher), the questions become more pertinent as you run out of time to answer them. I hope that my articles in Hometown Focus have provided “food for thought.” Full Story
