Chickenpeople: They're everywhere
I object to the fact that the Hometown Focus is dedicating an entire issue to chickens. I’m not sure whether it’s heredity, environment, early-life trauma, or some kind of chemical imbalance that causes a person to become a chicken. It’s my theory that the behavior which is exhibited by chickenpeople is their way of compensating for their feelings of insecurity or inadequacy. And that compensatory behavior is fine, most of the time. Everybody has to compensate for something. But in many cases this compensatory behavior can get nasty and cause other people to suffer. The one and only [because we're not likely to repeat it] Chicken Edition [No, we're not quacked]
Well, it started as just a single story – Chick Days at L&M Supply. After speaking with the “Head Chick” (Sandy Filipiak) at L&M for a couple hours all I could think about was chickens. The details of Chick Days are spellbinding! Then I thought, well, we could do chicken recipes that week, too. Then I thought, Hey, Richie (our marketing guy) has pet chickens. He brings us eggs! He has three little boys and cute stories! Full Story

Salvage yard to chicken ranch in Makinen
Three Little Birds Ranch
MAKINEN -- Pete Psick’s chicken farm all started with one tasty egg. Of course, that’s how most chicken farms begin – all those hens have to come from somewhere. But Psick was inspired to have a flock of his own after a friend and fellow chicken owner invited him over for breakfast and served fried eggs. Full Story

College Tuition

With the average debt after college at $19,000 and many undergraduate students leaving college with debts exceeding $40,000, it’s pretty intimidating to prepare for college and try to find a way to pay. In defense of the Easter Rabbit
A very large white rabbit perched on the door of Target for many weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. He had a life-like face and sported a full coat of pink with flowers (why is it, by the way, that we always refer to this bunny as male?). His prolific family was everywhere inside Target and every other store. Full Story
