Job Club created for job seekers
Hibbing WorkForce Center customers have created a Job Club that helps keep job seekers searching. Staff facilitator Charlotte Hanegmon reports, “The market is so rough that many job seekers feel like giving up and just staying home. This group buoys each other with praise and recognition! They even clap for rejection letters!”
As members take a turn reporting on their progress and commenting on what they have learned each week, the group breaks out in applause for every rejection letter. Why? To recognize the effort and acknowledge that the candidate was good enough to get a rejection letter! Most employers don’t bother with rejection letters; in today’s market, a rejection letter is cause for applause!
The group meets every Monday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Hibbing WorkForce Center. Other WorkForce Centers are looking to start up similar groups. Call 1-888-GET-JOBS or go online at www. PositivelyMinnesota.com.
