Giants Ridge holds “Souper Sunday” food shelf drive
Giants Ridge Ski Area is offering reduced lift tickets and ski rental rates of $10 each to all skiers who bring in at least two non-perishable food items for their “Souper Sunday” Food Shelf Drive, on Feb. 27, and Mar. 7 and 14, from 4-8 p.m. Other discounts will be offered on snowboards ($16), cross country ski rentals ($7) and cross country trail passes ($7.50). Bois Forte museum gets grant
The work of acclaimed painter Carl Gawboy, a Bois Forte Band member who depicts a traditional, native way of life, will be preserved in a video of his work, thanks to a new grant awarded to the Band’s Heritage Museum. The Minnesota Historical Society awarded a $7,000 Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant to the Bois Forte Heritage Museum on Jan. 21. Full Story

Bowlers to hold Hall of Fame Banquet
The Virginia Area USBC Annual Mixed Association and Hall of Fame Banquet will be held Saturday, Mar. 13 at the Virginia Elk’s Club. Happy Hour is at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to be served at 6:30. The cost is $15. At this banquet, winners of the Open City Tournament and Women’s City Tournament held in January will be recognized. Full Story

Virginia School Board report for Feb. 22
Chair Tim Riordan called the Virginia Board of Education regular meeting to order at 6 p.m. Awards included certificates to the board for School Board Recognition Week.
