Professional Tree Pruning
By Jo Bjerke Master Gardener Virginia, MN
Trees need to be pruned during dormancy to minimize the spread of diseases and other detrimental organisms. The best time to have that task accomplished is now through the end of March. If you tagged limbs or branches for removal, the job is much easier.
Consider hiring a qualified (and insured!) professional to tackle the large specimens that are overdue on maintenance. Those pros have the knowledge and necessary equipment to remove entire limbs, develop strong leaders, and improve the overall health and appearance of your trees. Young trees and shrubs can safely be pruned, as long as your feet remain stable on the ground.
