Chair massage: employee employer and a win- win for

Massage for your health & wellness
By Susan Santi
HTF Columnist

Why should you bring chair massage into your workplace? Because it is a simple and cost effective way to relieve stress and raise productivity, lower health care costs, show staff you care, and raise employee morale.

Let’s face it, workplace stress is everywhere these days, especially if you sit at a computer all day. The effects of stress build up over time and without taking the time to relax and rejuvenate those affected muscles, it can lead to backaches, headaches, poor concentration, burnout, anxiety, neck strain and repetitive use injuries. With regular chair massage you can help reduce these stress conditions and help

prevent new ones from affecting your employees.

This is a great way for companies to be proactive in the health and well-being of their employees. The cost is very affordable, it’s usually $1 per minute; this can be paid by the company, employee or even split between the two. This type of massage covers the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands. The person receiving the massage lets the therapist know where exactly on the upper body they wish to get worked on. It is done through the clothing and the time frame is usually 15 minutes. It can easily be done during a work break, and the only space needed is a small area - ideally a quiet office or an empty conference room.

Whether chair massage at your workplace is done weekly or monthly as part of your wellness program it is

a great way to have your employees relaxed and refreshed, ready to tackle the task in front of them. Or, you can have chair massage there for the occasional thank you to your staff. Either way, the results are immediate, cumulative and appeal to most everyone. So, yes, bringing chair massage to your workplace can be a win-win for everyone involved.
