A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel with Rev. Dan Erickson of Chisholm Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Inurnment will be in Chisholm Cemetery.
Sonia S. Johnson, age 91, of Balkan, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl. She was born June 14, 1919 in Balkan Township, MN to Issac and Julia (Koivisto) Sandvik. She was a long-time resident of Balkan and Chisholm.
She is survived by her sons – Rodney (Chrys) and Kenneth (Betty); daughter – Sharon Sommer; grandchildren – Lisa Rolfs, Gene Dropp, Raquel Hanson, Jennifer Cleveland and Kevin Johnson; and 14 great-grandchildren who will all miss Mumu very much. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather – William Huhtamaki; husband – Arvid on 6/17/1974; brothers – Toivo and Aro; sister –Beatrice; and grandson – Wayne Johnson.
