Robert Harry Siepler
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm, with Rev. Fr. Frank Perkovich celebrating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday. Interment will follow in Chisholm Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm.
Robert Harry Siepler, age 67, of Chisholm, died Friday, October 1, 2010 at Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi in Hibbing. He was born July 18, 1943 in Chisholm to Harry J. and Catherine M. (Gersich) Siepler. He was a 1962 graduate of Chisholm High School and had been a lifelong Chisholm resident.
Bob retired in 1999 as a laborer from Hibbing Taconite Co. after 21 years of service. He previously worked for the City of Chisholm at the Chisholm Cemetery for 11 years. He had a major stroke in 2005 related to his diabetes and had spent his last 5 ½ years at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing , playing pool and going to the movies. He was a good pool player and could have played in a league if he had not worked shift work. He had a shot which everyone called the Siepler cut.
Survivors include: his sister, Kathleen Portugue of Ely Lake – Eveleth; nieces: Terri (Mike Brouse) Portugue of Boulder, CO and Mary Portugue of Las Vegas, NV; nephews: Michael (Kristi) Portugue of Lakeville, MN and Mark Portugue of Las Vegas; great nieces: Alexandra and Samantha Portugue of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law – Jerry Portugue.
