Robert E. (Bob) Erickson, age 85, of Chisholm, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at home. He was born July 19, 1925 in Chisholm to Emanuel and Anna (Widd) Erickson. He attended the Chisholm public schools and graduated with the class of 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He graduated from Salter Vocational School in Duluth and worked for Architectural Resources in Hibbing from 1945 – 1989.

Robert was united in marriage on March 29, 1952 to Delores Mattson. He was an active member of Chisholm Baptist Church and served in many areas including the Church Choir for many years. He loved classical music. He was talented in woodworking and was a skilled carpenter. He earned the opportunity to challenge the National Council of Architectural Registration Board tests through twenty years of experience rather than the conventional college preparatory work. This fact, coupled with the years of dedication to the architectural profession, attested to his ability to set a goal for himself and to work for it.  He subsequently was registered as a licensed architect in Minnesota in July 1975.

Survivors include his wife – Delores; 4 children – Elaine (David) Watts; Lynn; Paul (Tina); James (Kristin); 5 grandchildren – Benjamin Watts; Matthew and Steven Erickson; Jacob and Hannah Erickson; brother – James G. (Audrey) Erickson of Geneva, IL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters – Edith Westerberg; Nancy Tramontin; Elaine Ankerberg; 1 brother – Leonard Erickson.
