Raymond M. Mellesmoen
Raymond M. Mellesmoen, 66, of Eveleth, died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born on November 2, 1943, in Fosston, MN to Ole and Nora (Moen) Mellesmoen. Ray married Judith J. Kerkow on November 28, 1962 in Norfolk, Virginia and was a longtime Eveleth resident. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also worked as a production truck driver for Reserve Mining Co. in Babbitt and the L.T.V. Mining Co. in Hoyt Lakes. Ray loved to travel with his wife Judy, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed carpentry.
Ray is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter; Kimberley (Mark) Pantsar of Britt, son; Todd (Debbie) Mellesmoen of Hibbing, seven grandchildren; Clint and Nick Henkel, Morgan, Meghan and Savanna Mellesmoen, Brandon and Brittney Christlieb, brother; Gary (Joan) Mellesmoen of Embarrass, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ralph and LeRoy.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 2010 at United in Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth with Pastor Joel Rova-Hegener as officiant. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Eveleth Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth.
