Olga J. Cvar
Olga J. Cvar, 91, formerly of Mtn. Iron passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia. Visitation will be Sunday, October 3rd from 5 to 7:00 p.m. to follow with a rosary at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mtn. Iron. Service will be Monday, October 4th at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mtn. Iron. Rev. Fr. John O’Donnell will officiate and burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m..
Olga was born on November 3, 1918 to Cosimo and Eugena (Paoletti) Barone in Mtn. Iron. She grew up in Mtn. Iron and graduated from Mtn. Iron High School in 1939. Olga and her sister, Genevieve performed as the Lonesome Cowgirls and later Olga and her brothers, Lee and Carl performed as the Tumbling Tumbleweeds on the local radio stations.
Olga married John Cvar on October 8, 1949 in Mtn. Iron where they made their home and operated the Mid-Iron Club for 17 years. During this time they raised their two sons. After the death of her husband she worked at Country Kitchen, Sawmill Saloon and Olga Cvar Tours, hosting her famous casino trips. Her favorite past times, were playing bingo, cooking and sharing stories about Mtn. Iron to her friends and relatives. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The American Legion Auxiliary and the Mtn. Iron Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by her two sons: Tom (Marly) Cvar of Mtn. Iron, MN, and John Dale Cvar of Minneapolis, MN; Grandchildren: Carrie (Shawn) Allen, Kimberly (Mike) Plesha, Laurie (PJ) LaMourea, and Lee Cvar; Great-grandchildren: Zachary & Alexie Allen, Morganne, Kolton and Kavan Plesha, and Payton, Hunter and Heith LaMourea.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1970, parents, sisters, Evelyn, Palma, Caroline and Genevieve and brothers, Dominic, Louis, Carl and Leopold.
