Nancy Roxcenia Turner
Nancy Roxcenia Turner, 74, Eveleth, died peacefully after a long 16 year courageous battle with breast cancer, Sunday, May 23, 2010 in her home, surrounded by her family. A special thank you to her sister, Susie, who was her loving guardian angel and caregiver during her illness.
Nancy was born on February 4, 1936, In Eveleth, the daughter of Anton and Beatrice (Henderson) Tammaro. She grew up and attended school in Eveleth.
On November 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Luis Turner in Virginia.
She was employed for 23 years as a housekeeper/laundry aid with the Eveleth Arrowhead Nursing Home, and also dedicated her life as a homemaker, taking care of her children.
She was a member of Eveleth Presbyterian Church. Her favorite past-time was Bingo, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her three sons; Luis Jr., Rev. Gregory, and Kevin (Jean Namchek) Turner, all of Eveleth; two daughters, Roxanne (Jeffrey) McMillen, Mt Iron, and Delores (Milton) Lerfald, Gilbert; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous foster granchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ted (Mary Beth) Tammaro, Mt Iron, and Richard (Theresa) Tammaro, Becida, MN; two sisters; Frances (Donald) Roen, and Deda “Susie” Tammaro, all of Eveleth;a sister in-law, Nanney Tammaro, Iron, sister and brother-in-laws, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her companions; Shadow, Rabb, and McKenzie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Luis Sr., three brothers; Robert, Butch, and Billy Tammaro; two sisters, Shirley (Lawrence) Butala,and Jacueline Tammaro; and a sister-in-law, Fern Tammaro.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 27th, at 10:00 A.M. to the 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service at Range Funeral Home, with Rev. Rod Tuomi officiating. Casketbearers will be her grandsons; Robert and Chad Rintala, Kristopher Turner, Leslie Lerfald, David Turner, Howard McMillen, and Shawn Turner. Burial will be in the Eveleth Cemetery.
