Mayme Rose Uppa
Mayme Rose Uppa, 94, Virginia, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Virginia Convalescent Center. A Private family burial will be in Zim Cemetery. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home, Virginia.
Mayme was born September 30, 1916, in Biwabik, MN, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Sturtecky) Janchick. She spent her childhood in Czechoslovakia and also in McKinley, MN.
She graduated from St. Cloud Teacher’s College and taught in St. Louis County Schools including Toivola, Alborn, and Cotton. Later, she worked as a clerk for the Zim Post Office for over 40 years.
On March 2, 1946, in Aurora, she was united in marriage to Raymond Uppa.
Mayme is survived by: a daughter, Elizabeth (Rodney)Ketola, Biwabik;
Three grandchildren: Burke and Kurt (Debra) Briski, all of Trent, SD; Katrina (John Hiti) Ketola, Eveleth; five great-grandchildren and six great-greatgrandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, a brother, Frank, and triplet brothers who died at birth.
