Marvin Oscar Severson
Marvin Oscar Severson, age 79, of Kelly Lake, and formerly of Washington, DC, died Friday, October 8, 2010 in Hillcrest Alice in Hibbing. He was born March 16, 1931 in Hibbing, the son of Oscar and Margaret (Moe) Severson. He graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to attend Hibbing, Jr. College, and San Diego State University where he received a BA in music. He was a veteran of the US Navy.
Marvin worked as a computer programmer for the Treasury Department and FDIC, retiring in 1993. He was an accomplished pianist who played in the military band. He enjoyed entertaining, giving piano lessons and supporting the arts. He was a rescuer of animals over the years, and they were his good companions. Marvin enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Marvin is survived by his nieces: Shirley (Greg) Waters, Marlene Hay, Jerlyn (George) Divens, Chris (Russ) Lindgren, Nancy (Bill) Bryand, Carol (Joe) Guertin, and Donette Triontofillidis; his nephew: Mark (Bobbi) Severson; and friends from Kelly Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Donald; and his sister: LuVerne.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. Memorial Service Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Hibbing. Rev. Erik Holleque will officiate.
