Lillian Bernice Burnett
Lillian Bernice Burnett, age 99, of Virginia died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born June 7, 1911 in Virginia, the daughter of Omar and Anna (Olson) Hoffer and attended Mt. Iron Schools. She married John E. Burnett in Moorhead, MN and they resided in Cook and Virginia. Lillian was a rural route mail carrier for many years. She was a member of Hope Community Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed sewing, hunting, fishing, baking and canning.
Lillian is survived by grandchildren: John T. (Patti) Burnett, Joni (Trevor) Ball and Trudi (Jim Johnson) Mellak all of Virginia; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John E.; son: Gary Burnett; daughter-in-law: Glee Burnett – Hoffer; daughter and son-in-law: Bonnie (Mickey) Mellak; granddaughter: Kristi Ann Mellak; great-granddaughter: Katie Burnett; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Friday, February 25, 2011 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service in Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia.
