Lida Ruth May Thompson
Lida Ruth May Thompson, 79, of Eveleth died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.
She was born on May 12, 1931 in Grasston, Minnesota to Emil and Helen Christine (Pierson) Carlson. Lida was raised by Eric and Elma Pierson in Togo, where she grew up and attended school. On January 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lawrence W. Thompson in Bear River. Together with her husband they owned and operated Hardware Hank’s in Eveleth. Lida later retired from the Virginia Regional Medical Center in housekeeping. She was a member of the Auxiliary to VFW Post 1172 and had marched in numerous 4th of July parades. Lida and her husband enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, camping at Bear Lake and spending time with their family.
She is survived by her sons, Lawrence “Chuck” (Annette) Thompson and Mark (Laura) Thompson; daughter-in-law, Pam Thompson; grandchildren, Amy, Christine, Brenda (Ed), Jeana, Paul, Willy (fiancée Stacy Donahue)’ several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; sons, Jack, Carl and Merlin; sister, Roberta and brother, John.
