Leonard Belobaba
Leonard Belobaba, 85, Virginia, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at St. Raphael’s in Eveleth.
Leonard was born in Kinney, MN, on August 1, 1924, the son of Eli and Amelia (Grozdanich) Belobaba. He grew up and attended schools in Kinney and in Buhl, graduating from Martin Hughs High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On June 21, 1947, Leonard married Delores Aluni in Chisolm, Mn, and they made their home in Virginia.
He was employed for Oliver Mine and then became plumber for his brother-in-law, John Zupantich, where he recieved his Master Plumbing license, and later went out on his own with Belobaba Plumbing and Heating. He was employed as a plumber for the St. Louis County School System for 15 years, and 10 years for the Virginia Public School system.
Leonard was a member of the VFW, and the American Legion Pratt Volden Post, and the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
He loved to fish and hunt, especially at Spring Lake with the Alunis’ and friends. Later he enjoyed sitting in the shade whittling and watching sports.
Surviving are his two sons, Lenny (Lorry) Belobaba,Eveleth; and Paul (Katherine) Belobaba, Virginia; one daughter, Donna (Greg Peterson) Rupp, Cook; one daughter-in-law, Mary Belobaba; and 5 grandchildren, Tina (Steve), Shelly, Fernando, Alfredo, and Christian; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Amelia. Also surviving are one sister, Kay Mosffer, Milwaukee, WI; many neices, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; a son, Don; a brother, Nick Belobaba, and three sisters, Sophie Moren, Mary Petrick, and Julia Ogrezovich.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M, on Thursday, May 27th, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. John O’Donnell. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery in Virginia at a later date. Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home of Virginia.
