Laurel Rae St. Sauver

Laurel Rae St. Sauver, 83, of Iron went home to our Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. She passed away at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
 
Laurel was born in Iron Junction, MN to John and Emily (Zacher) Johnson on December 31, 1926. She grew up in Canisteo/Cleveland Cliffs location in Bovey and graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine. Laurel also attended Eveleth Junior College and married her high school sweet heart David St. Sauver when he returned from Saipan at the end of World War II. They were married April 17, 1946 in Hibbing, MN. In 1949, she moved with her husband and two children from Hibbing to Iron Junction to the same house in which she was born and ultimately where she passed away. She was a long standing member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Eveleth.
 
She enjoyed her family, drawing, painting, rock collecting and her garden. She loved fishing. She was active in the Iron Women’s Club and 4H. She crocheted and sold custom made hats under the name Custom Made by Laurel at Nagels Women’s Apparel Store in Virginia.
 
She is survived by her loving husband: David; son: John (Jeri) St. Sauver and daughter, Susan (fiance’ William Bloomquist) St. Sauver; grandchildren: Melinda (Robert) Brooks, David (Lindsey) St. Sauver and Robert Davis and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Roberta Jo-Helen Erickson.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday in Resurrection Catholic Church, Eveleth. Fr. Charles Flynn will celebrate. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday in Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth and will continue at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Forbes Cemetery. A reception will follow graveside services at the Virginia American Legion Club. To sign the guest book online and to leave a memorial message go to: www.cron-sheehy.com
