Kenneth “Ken” Allan Akkanen
Kenneth “Ken” Allan Akkanen, 52, of Virginia passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia at 11 AM. Pastor Brad Felix will officiate. Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home of Virginia.
Ken was born on April 3, 1957 to John and Marlene (Stone) Akkanen in Virginia, MN. He grew up in Babbitt and graduated from Babbitt High School. He attended Eveleth Vo-Tech. Ken married Lori Anderson on February 8, 1985 in Virginia, MN and following their marriage they resided in rural Virginia. He was employed by Min-tac as a millwright for 27 years. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and very resourceful and could fix anything. Ken was a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; Children: Ben Akkanen, Darren Akkanen and Rachel Akkanen; Parents: John & Marlene Akkanen; Brothers: John (Jean) Akkanen and Gust (Rhonda) Akkanen; Sisters: Linda (Steven) Graupman and Melanie (Scott) Allrich; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparent, infant brother, Aaron Akkanen and nephew, Shawn Akkanen.
