Karen L. Mayry
Karen L. Mayry, age 72, longtime resident of Iron died Saturday, July 03, 2010 in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born June 11, 1938 in Grygla, MN the daughter of Nels and Margaret (Johannessohn) Folkedahl. She graduated from Cherry High School, and was united in Marriage to Jerry Mayry in September of 1957.
Karen enjoyed her work at the Cherry Greenhouse, and had previously worked for K-Mart. She was a member of the Faith United Lutheran Church. Karen enjoyed flowers, gardening and golfing.
Karen is survived by her husband of 52 years: Jerry; a son: Bradley (Bonnie) Mayry of Iron; two daughters: Jane (Tim) Honeycut of Virginia Beach, VA, and Patricia (Robert) Schley of Iron; three brothers: David (Debbie) Folkedahl of Kansas City, MO, Vern (Laurie) Folkedahl of Grundy Center, IA, and Neil (Shelly) Folkedahl of Fargo, ND; two sisters: Donna (Frank) Parczyk of Cook, MN, and Dale (Dennis) Hurst of Duluth, MN; a brother-in-law: Bob Slotnes of Duluth, MN; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Richard; her sister: Sandra Slotnes; three children: Warren, Stephen, and Margaret; and a son-in-law: Brian Ramfjord.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday, July 6, 2010, and will continue from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am memorial service Wednesday, July 7, 2010, all in the Faith United Lutheran Church in Iron. Rev. Jeneva Stromberg will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Forbes Cemetery.
