Joseph Anthony Toldo
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m.Monday, December 13, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm with Rev. Steve Breitbarth officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Chisholm Cemetery.
Joseph Anthony Toldo, age 84, of Chisholm, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi in Hibbing. He was born July 28, 1926 in Chisholm to John B. Sr. and Catherine M. (Micheletto) Toldo. He grew up in Chisholm and was a 1944 graduate of Chisholm High School. He later lived in Portland, OR and in Hoyt Lakes prior to returning to Chisholm in 1960. He was an Army Veteran of WW II, having served in the Pacific Theater and awarded a Purple Heart.
Joe was united in marriage on May 30, 1952 in Portland to Joan M. Sandin. He retired in 1992 as a mining engineer from Hibbing Taconite Co. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Chisholm; Press-Lloyd American Legion Post #247 of Chisholm; The Chisholm Drum & Bugle Corps and the local Musician’s Union. Joe enjoyed his music, especially his time with the Roman Numerals band. His family was the love of his life.
Survivors include his wife – Joan; daughter – Susan (Jerry) Lucente of Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren – Melodi Renner, Joe Lucente, David Toldo, Jeremy Lucente and Brooke Kvam; great grandchildren – Jasmine Diamon, Madison Kvam, Isabella Renner, Lyric Toldo and Jayden Kvam; brother – Butch (Rommy) Toldo of Chisholm; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son – David J. on 7/3/92, brother – John B. Jr. on 5/17/10 and by an infant sister, Patricia.
