Joseph Anthony Altobelli Jr.
Joseph Anthony Altobelli Jr., 68, father, grandpa, great grandpa and son passed away at the Virginia Regional Medical Center on Monday October 11th, 2010. He will be sadly missed by so many.
Joe was born on March 16, 1942 to Joseph and Ursula (Mervich) Altobelli. On March 3rd, 1967 he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Olson. After retiring from UPS, he spent his time wintering in Texas and spending his summers up north visiting with family and friends. His favorite things included staying at Lake Vermillion and fishing off Altys's dock or at Hoodoo Point. He made golf his passion and made sure to be out at 10:30 a.m. every morning at the Virginia Golf Course and at the various golf courses in Texas in the winter. He enjoyed the times visiting grandchildren and delivering doughnuts to them every time.
He is survived by his sons: Steven Altobelli of Bloomington, Chris (Chris) Altobelli of Eden Prairie and Anthony (Liz) Altobelli of Virginia and his daughter Michelle (Thomas) Andersen of Rogers; son-in-law Dan Bzdok of Baxter. Grandchildren include: Karen, Rochelle and Crystal Altobelli (Steve), Mitchell and Brittny Bzdok (Dan), Nicholas and Lauren Andersen (Michelle), Paisley, Alex, Joseph, Madeline and Samuel Altobelli (Chris), and Tristan Altobelli (Tony), three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; his mom, Ursula Altobelli; brothers: James/Hamer (Bonnie) Altobelli of Virginia, and John/Alty (Cindy) Altobelli of Vermillion; sisters: Patti (Tom) Kallio of New Brighton and Judy (Joe) Whalen of Sauk Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sr.; wife, Beverly; daughter, Donna and numerous aunts and uncles.
Funeral arrangements are set for 2 p.m. visitation and 3 p.m. service on Friday, October 15th, 2010 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia with Pastor Lisa. A private burial will take place at Willow Valley Cemetery in Cook at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation made to the Virginia Foundation or The American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home of Virginia.
