JoAnna M. Heineman, “Mrs. OMAR’S STIHL,” 74, Hibbing died Monday, February 14, 2011, at the Virginia Convalescent Center in Virginia, MN. She was born on October 18, 1936, to Wayne and Hannah (Makela) Miller in Brimson, MN. JoAnna was a graduate of Two Harbors High School. She had been a resident of Hibbing since 1967, coming from Burlington, WI. Homemaker by trade, JoAnna also took care of the books for her husband’s business, OMAR’S STIHL SAW SALES & SERVICE. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing, the Swandale Ladies Club, the Election Board at the Airport, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies and pastimes included; picking berries, crosswords, cooking, knitting, and beating everyone at PAC-MAN. Her door was always open to anyone.
She is survived by her husband, Omar Heineman, Hibbing, two sons, Ed (Renee) Heineman, Hastings, MN., and Jere (Linda) Heineman, Hibbing, three daughters, Pat (Chuck) Johnson, Roswell, NM., Donna (Dana) Helgeson, Iron, MN., and Marla (Tom) Vanek, Monticello, MN., nine grandchildren, Melissa (Craig) Kubasta, Virginia, MN., Jordan (Laura) Stottern, Roswell, NM., Jeremie (Jasmine) Vanek, Monticello, MN., Jackie Johnson, Albuquerque, NM., Jay Johnson, Roswell, NM., Nicole Vanek, Monticello, MN., Cody Helgeson, Iron, MN., and Kristina Heineman, Hibbing, two great-grandchildren, Hunter Stottern, Roswell, NM., and Madison Vanek, Monticello, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Hannah (Makela) Miller, brother, Wayne Miller, and her grandson, Kevin Heineman.
Funeral services for JoAnna will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Terry Tilton will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the 4th floor staff at the Virginia Convalescent Center. Their devotion and care to JoAnna and her family during this difficult time meant a lot to everyone. Thank you again, the Heineman family. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
