Jerry Hakola
Jerry Hakola, age 74 of Hibbing passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 in the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 22, 1936 in Hibbing, the son of Rudolph and Lillian (Maki) Hakola and was a longtime Hibbing resident. Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Hibbing High School and a graduate of Hibbing Junior College. He worked as a truck driver in the construction of many Minnesota Roadways including Hwys 53 and 694; and owned a warehouse and trucking firm in Sioux Falls, SD. Jerry served in the Minnesota National Guard and was an honorary member of VFW Post 8510 in Hibbing. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and loved Minnesota. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, landscaping and gardening, restoring cars and was a John Deere fanatic. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Masonic Lodge.
Jerry is survived by children: Cory (Gloria) Hakola of Santa Rosa, CA, Kyle (Louise) Hakola of Zimmerman, MN, and Shannessy Hakola of Rome, Italy; stepson: Scott (Kelly) Erickson of Chisholm; siblings: Gordon (Ione) Hakola of Scottsdale, AZ, Elaine (Ernie) Vargas of Coon Rapids, MN and Deanna (Cal) Hakala of Floodwood, MN; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Dale and Dean Hakola.
A Gathering time for Family and Friends will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service in Anderson Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing. Pastor Dan Erickson will officiate.
