Jack Warren Rogers
Jack Warren Rogers, age 79, of Tower and formerly of Des Moines and West Des Moines, IA died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at his home. He was born April 4, 1931 in Des Moines, IA the son of Raymond and Ethel Pearl (Binder) Rogers. He attended School in Des Moines and went on to attend College and Law School at Drake University. He was married to Sandra Jane Yeager on September 9, 1956 in Fairfield, IA.
Jack worked as an attorney in his own law practice, and as the city attorney for West Des Moines for more than 30 years. He was a member of West Des Moines Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Kiwanis, and was chairman of the board of the Des Moines General Hospital for 10 years. In Tower he was a member of the ROMEO coffee club. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and going fishing.
Jack is survived by his wife: Sandra Jane; four sons: Scott (Linda) Rogers of Altoona, IA, Todd (Teresa) Rogers of Concord, NC, Mark (Emily) Rogers of West Des Moines, IA, and Matthew (Becky) Rogers of Franklin, IN; seven grandchildren: Lacy Kaye (Cory) Raite, Cody, Quinn, Travis, Torri, Ariel, and Samuel Rogers; six step-grandchildren; two nephews: Michael & Phillip Tone; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Rogers, and an infant Brother.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the Vermilion Funeral Home Chapel in Tower. Paul Hanson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in West Des Moines, IA. Memorials are preferred to: the Gerald and Thelma Yeager memorial Scholarship Fund at the Fairfield Christian Church, Fairfield, IA, or the charity of your choice.
