He was born on October 26, 1927 in Cook, MN to Isaac and Lempi (Jarvinen) Raiskio. 

 

Prior to retiring Matt worked at CDWC (Occupational Development Center), attended East Range Developmental Activity Center and Adult Day Service. Matt was a member of the Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia.   Matt was member of the Road Runners Special Olympic Track and Field and Mesabi Thunder Special Olympic Bowling Team. Matt volunteered with the RSVP program and participating in community events. Those who knew him enjoyed his sense of humor and joking behavior. Matt was also noted for wearing his favorite buttons.

 

Matt is survived by of his housemates at NHS-Evans, numerous nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Diane Solbakken.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Lempi Raiskio; siblings: Sylvia, Elmer, Helmi, Hazel, and Henry.

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 5 at 12 noon at Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia, with a service following at 1 PM. Pastor Nathan Williams will officiate.  Burial will be at a later time at the Cook Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Range Funeral in Virginia.
