Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm with Rev. David Stevens officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Chisholm Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm.
Esther T. Berg, age 94, of Chisholm, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm. She was born May 22, 1916 in Chisholm to Julius and Elina (Frank) Koivu. She grew up in Chisholm and was a 1934 graduate of Chisholm High School. She later lived in Camas, Washington prior to returning to Chisholm.
Esther was united in marriage on November 2, 1940 in Camas to Harold A. Berg. She worked for the local bakery after graduation and at the Nelson Hotel which became the Tibroc Hotel, Omark Industries/Clewett Peabody Shirt Factory in Chisholm from 1965 to 1975 and baked for Taylor’s Hamburger Stand. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Chisholm, was a 4-H Club Leader, an avid gardener and loved reading and spending time at the family cabin at Dewey Lake.
Survivors include her daughters –“Ardys” Lenore Nienas and Dianne (Roger) Corradi both of Chisholm, her grandchildren; Donald Nienas (fiancé-Chris Kissel), Ritch (Melissa) Brownlee, Laura Nienas, Teresa (Lance) Miles, Michelle Kangas, Christine (Derek) Chapman, Brian (Donna Keller) Corradi and Bradley (Wendy) Corradi, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold on 1/29/1977, daughter – Marilyn Brownlee, on 8/13/2000, siblings, Irene Lambrect and Reino “Ray” Lehto.
