Edwin “Ed” Jacobson
Edwin “Ed” Jacobson, 78, of Iron passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at his residence in Iron. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Visitation will continue at 12:00 noon Thursday, September 30th till the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mt. Iron. Pastor Kristen Foster will officiate. Burial will be at in Aspelund Cemetery in Flom, MN.
Ed was born on June 19, 1932 to Albert and Mathilda “Tillie” (Berger) Jacobson in Fargo, ND. He grew up in Flom, MN and graduated from Twin Valley High School. He was in the US Air Force prior to moving to the Iron Range where he worked for LTV Mining Co. He was a police officer for the town of Kinney and for the town of Fayal until his retirement. On July 8, 1978 he married Dorothy Brown Christianson. He was a past member of the Harfager Sons of Norway, a charter member of the Northland American Red Cross Disaster Team and Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed going to the annual Minnesota Steam Thrasher Reunion in Rollag, MN, Saint Louis County Fair and Land of the Loon. He enjoyed mowing his lawn every day.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy; Children: Randy (Rachel) Jacobson, Randy (Renee) Christianson, John Christianson, Laura (Mark) Thompson, Kim (Keith) Mattila, Mary Ann (Dave) Hansen; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and his first wife Shirley Burke.
Proceeded in death by parents, one brother, Kenneth, 3 sisters, Joyce, Muriel and Adeline and 3 grandchildren, Mariah, Cody and Justin.
