Edward Waino Saari,77, formerly of Pike River and Forbes died Friday, September 10, 2010 at Bayshore Health Center in Duluth. A service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia.  Visitation will be one hour prior. The Rev. Jeffrey Jones will officiate.

 

Edward was born on December 24, 1932 to Matt and Sylvia Johnson in Pike River.  Edward served his country with the United States Air Force. He married Noralee Marie Haiman on April 15, 1955 in Algona Iowa. They began their life together in Minneapolis and quickly returned home to Pike River where Edward was a welder by trade.  He was employed by Berra Metal Shop, Danielsons Metal and General Electric from which he retired from in 1995.

 

Edward enjoyed the outdoors, playing cards, as well as watching the Minnesota Twins and his beloved Vikings.

 

He is survived by his two sons: Ken (Cyndee) Saari of Isanti, MN and Steven Saari of Buhl, MN; one brother: Carlo of Smithville, MO; 4 grandchildren: Aaron, CoreyLynn, Ashley, and Andrea.

 

He was preceded in death by his brother; Marvin and sister; Elaine.
