Don C. Mattson

Don C. Mattson, 59, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at his home in Virginia, Minnesota after a battle with cancer. Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 7th at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior. Pastor Terry Hartikka will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at the Argo Cemetery. 
 
Don was born May 27, 1951 to Robert and Jeanette Mattson in Virginia, Minnesota and grew up in Embarrass. After graduating from the Grand Rapids High School, Don studied at Northwestern Electronics in Minneapolis and went on to further studies in auto mechanics. An important part of his life was his family and friends. He was a gifted musician and played with numerous bands throughout his life. He was a member of the carpenters union and worked in carpentry for many years until he became disabled. Don was very helpful to all and had a caring heart for those in need. His humor brought life to everyone. He will be greatly missed.
 
Survivors include his mother, Jeanette Mattson; Six siblings: Roberta (John) Templeton of Wrens, GA,Frances (Charles) Roux of Buffalo, MN, Lyle (Cheryl) Mattson of Britt, MN, Marian (Amr) Azzabi of Eveleth, MN,Terry Mattson of Ely, MN, Robert (Mary) Mattson of Ely, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Mattson and an infant brother.
