Dolores Jeane Welch
Dolores Jeane Welch, 80, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her residence in Hoyt Lakes, MN. Funeral service will be held at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes on September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Steven Daigle will officiate. Burial will be at the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home of Virginia.
She was born on July 17, 1930 to Arthur and Allie (Hopkins) Williams in Shawnee, OK. Her mother Allie passed away when she was 3 years old. Several years later her father married Gladys Wasson. Dolores attended 26 schools, graduating from South High in Minneapolis. Following her graduation, Dolores attended nurses training at Minneapolis General Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse. She married James “Jim” Welch on August 18, 1951. She was employed at General Hospital until 1955, concentrating more on family. After her children were raised, she went back to work as an RN at White Community Hospital in Aurora. They lived in Alabama, Minneapolis, Maplewood and finally settling in Hoyt Lakes, MN in 1974 where they owned and operated Mesaba Drug.
Dolores was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the Hoyt Lakes Chamber of Commerce and the Hoyt Lakes Tourism Board.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of 59 years; Step mother: Gladys Williams of East Moline, IL; 2 step brothers: James Williams of East Moline, IL and Rev. Larry (Rev. Jeri) Williams of Drexel Hills, PA; 10 Children: Nancy (Mike) Radtke of Hoyt Lakes, MN, Debra (John) Prokosch of Lake Elmo, MN, Patricia (Steve) Connett of Woodbury, MN, Thomas (Tracy) Welch of Hoyt Lakes, MN, William (Robin) Welch of Norco, CA, Renee (Mitch) Ronning of Hoyt Lakes, MN, Daniel (Janet Petrell) Welch of Hudson, WI, Timothy (Dania) Welch of Clifton Park, NY, Mary (Vincent) Fossell of Hoyt Lakes, MN, Jennifer (Ryan) Pickard of Monroeville, OH; Grandchildren: Miles Larsen (Stephanie), Jennifer Zimmerman (Jim) and Keith Radtke (Laura), Travis, Kyle, Justin and Megan Prokosch, Nick and Breanna Connett, Tiffany Welch, Erin Sather (Eric), Brody Welch (Kelly) and Chad Laurila, Simon and Rachel Welch, Richard, Robert (Rebekah) Ronning, Erik and John Ronning, Taylor, Madelyn and Reed Welch, Brittany, Jenna, Kailey, Alexa and Ashley Fossell and Nakiya and Issac Pickard; Great-Grandchildren: Nicholas and Matthew Larsen, Alan and Tristan Schouten and Justin Prebe, Gavin, Keara, Hailey, Hannah and Riley Ronning,

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson; Marshall Larsen and granddaughter; Olivia Pickard.
