Dolores Jean Klang
Dolores Jean Klang, 75, Gilbert, died after a courageous 27 year battle with M.S., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Essentia Health Center in Aurora.
Dolores was born February 21, 1935, in Crosby, MN, the daughter of Thomas and Evelyn (Buchite) Rian.
She grew up and attended schools in Duluth, graduating from Duluth Central High School in 1953. She was runner-up for the Miss Duluth Pageant in 1954. After her father’s death when she was only 13, her and her mother ran Rian’s Cafe in Canal Park until is closing in 1964.
In November of 1963, she was united in marriage to Robert Klang and they then made their home in Hoyt Lakes, and later moved to Gilbert
Dolores enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends, and was an avid water-skier.
She was employed as teller for First American Bank, Traveler’s Insurance, and a receptionist for Minnesota Power in Duluth, otherwise she was proud of being a homemaker.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert, of Gilbert; two children: Eric R. Klang of Duluth, and Kirsten “Tina” (Van Fitch) Klang, Eveleth; one grandson, Dalton Fitch, Eveleth and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will begin on Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Range Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to the 2:00 PM Funeral Service. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Park, Duluth the following day.
