Dessa O. Sargent
Dessa O. Sargent, age 96, of LaPrairie, MN and formerly of Hibbing and Pengilly, died Friday, May 21, 2010 in an adult care facility in LaPrairie. She was born August 27, 1913 in Chisholm, MN the daughter of Nikola and Kata Orlovich. She attended school on the Iron Range and went on to attend Beauty College in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to William “Wayne” Sargent on April 10, 1943 in Hennepin County.
Dessa worked as a hairdresser and beautician. She was a member of St. Basil Serbian Orthodox Church in Chisholm. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and going to garage sales.
Dessa is survived by her sister: Martha Badavinac of Pengilly, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Wayne; two sisters: Maria Duma and Mildred Miskovich; and two brothers: George Orlovich and Michael Orlovich.
Funeral services for Dessa will be held 1:30 pm, Thursday, May 27, 2010 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. The Very Reverend Bogdan Zjalic will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
