Dennis Wayne Drift
Dennis Wayne Drift, 65, Richfield, formerly of Nett Lake, died in his home, Thursday, October 28, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Dennis was born on November 28, 1944, in Nett Lake, MN, the son of Louis and Helen (Porter) Drift. After finishing school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kittyhawk and served honorably during the Vietnam War, receiving the Vietnam Service medal.
On October 1, 1983, he was united in marriage to his sweetheart, Joan Shirley Quaderer, in Minneapolis, and recently celebrated 27 years of marriage.
Dennis went to mechanic’s school, and later worked for Mystic Lake Casino for 15 years as a blackjack dealer.
Dennis enjoyed poker, watching all sports, especially the Vikings. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; xix daughters: Laurie, Lisa, Alison, Camille, Sherri, and Denise; One son, Randy; many grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Wendell, Ernest, Clarence, and Carroll; and two sisters, Barbara and Dolly.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Nett Lake Community Center from 5:00 p.m. to the 10:00 a.m.Tribal Rites Ceremony on Monday, November 1, 2010. Burial will be in Bois Forte Cemetery. Range Funeral Home of Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
